" All right," said Mr Gumpy.

大家一起爬上车子。

“It's a lovely day,” said Mr Gumpy. "Let's take the old cart-track across the fields."

For a while they drove along happily. The sun shone, the engine chugged and everyone was enjoying the ride.

大家坐在车上，高高兴兴地走了一阵。阳光明媚。车子咔啦咔啦地走着。大家玩得很开心。

“I don't like the look of rhose clouds. I think it's going to rain,” said Mr Gumpy. ' r' S5 a: M. d1 E! z

Very soon the dark clouds were right overhead.

Mr Gumpy stopped the car. He jumped out, put up the hood, and down came the rain. ( Z9 i/ U5 D+ y2 P

The road grew muddier, and muddier, and the wheels began to spin.

Mr Gumpy looked at the hill ahead.

"Some of you will have to get out and push," he said.

路上的烂泥越来越多，车轮一圈一圈地空转着，车走不动了。 , I. \: i5 `: J; n( i! n

"Now we're really stuck," said Mr Gumpy.

1 q1 }$ ~. v. D7 V& M* P0 A汽车陷进烂泥里，动都不能动。

甘伯伯说：“我们抛锚了。” . w. m: v) ]- W

大家只好全部下去推车了。

Slowly the car began to move...

! v* M4 t3 }* a( Q0 e% A# B大家推啊，顶啊，抬啊，抗啊，喘大气的喘大气，打滑的打滑，东倒西歪，呼哧呼哧地踩着烂泥。

汽车艰难地爬到了小山的山顶。

大家抬头一看，天上又出现太阳了。
