"May we?" said the rabbit, the cat, the dog, the pig, the sheep, the chickens, the calf and the goat.

兔子，猫，狗狗，胖猪，绵羊，鸡，小牛和山羊，也都说：“我们可以一起去”

“It's a lovely day,” said Mr Gumpy. "Let's take the old cart-track across the fields." 2 K' ?! s2 X* _

For a while they drove along happily. The sun shone, the engine chugged and everyone was enjoying the ride.

Mr Gumpy stopped the car. He jumped out, put up the hood, and down came the rain. ( {2 Y3 X* q/ e) e0 B

/ I* ?9 |4 A1 i: X- ]( P甘伯伯停了车，跳到车外，把车篷架好，雨跟着就下起来了。

The road grew muddier, and muddier, and the wheels began to spin.

“Not us，”said the chickens.“We can't push.”

"Now we're really stuck," said Mr Gumpy.

They all got out and pushed.

' F+ w M5 F( \ n% L% J汽车陷进烂泥里，动都不能动。

甘伯伯说：“我们抛锚了。”

They pushed and shoved and heaved and strained and gasped and shipped and slithered and squelched.

"Don't stop." cried Mr Gumpy. "Keep it up! We're nearly there." 7 W9 E4 f; K; H$ l' L x# F/ v

Everyone gave a mighty heave the tyres gripped... , C$ l/ S0 @; i) ^. A3 } v
: ]1 D2 b4 a5 J5 O( `大家推啊，顶啊，抬啊，抗啊，喘大气的喘大气，打滑的打滑，东倒西歪，呼哧呼哧地踩着烂泥。

好不容易，汽车向前挪了一步。

5 I, N/ E9 R+ }6 W甘伯伯大叫：“别放松！再往前推，我们快成功了。”

大家用尽全力一推，车轮爬上了硬地。
