Once there was an old man. He lived in an old house. 从前，有一位老人（old man）。 他住在一所旧房子（house）里。 ![]()
"This house is too noisy," said the old man. The door creaked. The floor squeaked. And the window went bang-bang. 老人说：“这个房子太闹腾了。” 门（door）吱嘎作响。 地板（floor）也吱吱作响。 窗户（window）砰——砰—— ![]()
One day the old man took his cane. Off he went to see a very wise lady. "My house is too noisy," said the old man. "What can I do ?" 一天，老人拄着拐杖（cane）， 他出发去拜访一位 非常智慧的夫人（lady）。 老人对她说：“我的房子太闹腾了， 我该怎么办呢？” ![]()
The lady said, "Take this goat. The goat will live with you in your house." 夫人说：“带着这只山羊（goat）， 它将和你住在一起。” ![]()
The old man took the goat to his house. The goat went maa-maa. It broke a chair with its horns. Crash! 老人把山羊带回了家。 山羊开始咩咩叫。 它用羊角（horns）碰坏了椅子。 ![]()
So the next day the old man went back to the lady. "My house is still too noisy!" he said. So the wise lady gave him a cow to take to his house. 因此，接下来这天， 老人又回去找这个夫人。 他说：“我的房子仍旧太闹腾了。” 聪明妇人给了他一头奶牛让他带回家。 ![]()
The caw went moo-moo! The goat went maa-maa! The old man put a pillow over his head. 奶牛哞——哞—— 山羊咩——咩—— 老人把一个枕头（pillow）放在头顶上。 ![]()
The next day the old man went back to the lady. "My house is still too noisy!" he said. So the wise lady gave him a donkey to take to his house. 接下来这天，老人又去了聪明妇人那儿 他说：“我的房子仍然太闹腾了。” 因此，现在聪明妇人又让他 把一头驴子（donkey）带回了家。 ![]()
The donkey went hee-haw, hee-haw! The caw went moo-moo! The goat went maa-maa! The old man yelled, "It is too noisy!" 驴子嘿——嚯—— 奶牛哞——哞—— 山羊咩——咩—— 老人吼叫道：“这太闹腾了！” ![]()
The next day the lady came to the house. She said,"Open the door. Let out the goat,the caw, and the donkey." And the old man did. 接下来这天， 夫人来到这座房子， 她说：“打开门， 让山羊、奶牛、驴子都出去吧。” 老人照着聪明妇人的话做了。 ![]()
And what do you know? The house was quiet now! The old man went to bed and slept all day long. 你知道吗？ 房子现在变得安静了。 老人上床美美地睡了整整一天。
