森林里住着两只熊，大熊叫大大熊，小熊叫小小熊。
白天，它们在温暖的森林一起玩，

(which was just getting to the interesting part)
and padding over to the bed.

"Why are you scared, Little Bear?" asked Big Bear.
"I dont like the dark, "said Little bear.
" m7 `0 n7 B: I" k+ s  u. l" T7 A“ What dark?” said Big bear.
“ The dark all around us ，"said Little bear.
% f" e& d" X/ p+ |2 I“你睡不着吗，小小熊？”
大大熊放下它那本看得正有趣的书，走到了小小熊的床边。
“我害怕。”小小熊说。
“你害怕什么，小小熊？”大大熊问。
9 f8 r% N0 P' A“我不喜欢这么黑。”小小熊说。
“什么黑？”大大熊问。
“周围黑黑的地方。”小小熊说。

Big bear looked, and he saw that the dark part
1 W7 D6 N# w$ g# f$ @3 q+ c* nof the cave was very dark,
so he went to the Lantern Cupboard
and took out the tiniest lantern that was there.
Big Bear lit the tiniest lantern,
and put it near to Little bears bed.
, ?+ Q3 ^1 e* e% a' G"There's a tiny light to stop you being scared,
1 |4 e2 K7 _0 Y! ]- t; FLittle Bear, "said Big Bear.
* F2 Z# F1 i1 Z, ]& r8 ?2 d"Thank you, Big Bear, "said Little Bear,
cuddling up in the glow.
"Now go to sleep, Little Bear, "said Big Bear,
: t! L1 K* d, B9 I- H8 `and he padded back to the bear Chair and settled
down to read the Bear Book, by the light of the fire.
大大熊看了看周围,觉得小小熊说得有道理。
1 y' U& u$ e8 o5 R2 O于是它拿来了一个小小的灯，很小，放在小小熊的床边。
' T* Q: s3 T0 e: N3 w. y: `“小小熊，这个小灯会让你不害怕黑暗。”大大熊说。
“谢谢你，大大熊。”小小熊给了大大熊一个拥抱。

Little Bear tried to go to sleep, but he couldn't.
"Can't you sleep, Little Bear? "yawned Big Bear,
putting down his Bear Book
(with just four pages to go to the interesting bit)
and padding over to the bed.
"Im scared, "said Little Bear.
* S. R( s4 L! Y! l"Why are you scared, Little Bear?"asked Big Bear.
"I dont like the dark, " said Little Bear.
"What dark?" said Big Bear
8 [7 W4 l+ r2 e+ L, v1 S"The dark all around us, "said Little bear
"But I brought you a lantern! "said Big Bear
; c$ k4 Q9 U7 Y+ X0 H+ h"Only a tiny-weeny one, " said Little Bear. "
, u- M# C' z) _! r$ kAnd there's lots of dark!”
Big Bear looked, and he saw that Little Bear was quite
right, there was still lots of dark.
So Big Bear went to the Lantern Cupboard
6 C9 E5 Y( F. {3 l0 T8 W1 Sand took out a bigger lantern.
/ j, y! _, T2 V/ B% W9 lBig bear lit the lantern, and put it beside the other one.

7 N0 [" j$ t: ]. V# D8 U, R3 u* W小小熊躺了一会儿，可它还是睡不着。
# k" L; j9 O- \' n“你睡不着吗，小小熊？”大大熊说。
它放下书，来到了小小熊的床边。
8 j* F& I4 s8 D1 V3 r+ \6 W, @/ g“我害怕。”小小熊说。
/ l4 f+ l: ~' n" X“你害怕什么，小小熊？”大大熊问。
“我不喜欢这么黑。”小小熊说。
: X! ^+ k, f6 Q“可我已经给你拿来了小灯。”
“它只照亮了一点点的光，那里还有那么多黑的地方呢。”

8 t- n- `' h! k3 P$ t, r大大熊看了看周围，觉得小小熊说得有道理。
于是它拿来了大一点的灯，放在小小熊的床边。

. ~% J6 y/ H$ F; H- y& Vsaid Big Bear and he padded back to the Bear Chair
and settled down to read the Bear Book,

Little Bear tried and tried to go to sleep,but he couldn't.
) h( ]6 ^1 Z# C; E"Can't you sleep,Little Bear?" grunted Big Bear,
putting down his bear Book (with just three pages to go)
and padding over to the bed.
+ [( a& I0 T0 j% e6 z# @7 T"I'm scared," said Little bear.
"Why are you scared, Little Bear?"asked Big Bear.
8 F# G( k6 B3 Q' g$ J& P) `"I don't like the dark," said Little Bear.
( W$ H+ }; Y6 [3 l  `+ I; E/ D- ]"What dark?"asked Big Bear.
"The dark all around us, "said Little Bear.
"But I brought you two lanterns! "said Big Bear.
8 ]) T$ c! j2 q  m1 p1 q"A tiny one and a bigger one!”
"Not much bigger, "said Little Bear.
"And there's still lots of dark.
) o* j% c0 z9 G  N' g; V“现在去睡觉吧，小小熊。”
; K' W5 n- s# w4 D# P5 |2 V大大熊走回火堆旁，坐下去继续看书。
小小熊想着睡着，可是睡不着。
“你睡不着吗，小小熊？”大大熊放下书。
“我害怕，”小小熊说。
“你害怕什么，小小熊？”大大熊问。
* |% i: K* g9 I/ v1 t9 b$ d“我不喜欢这么黑。”小小熊说。
“什么黑？”大大熊问。
' j; F) Z7 u  t; h“周围黑黑的地方。”小小熊说。
! Q, p: m! z! l6 P, u# Z“但是我已经给你拿了两盏灯了，一个大的，一个小的。”
“不够，那里还是黑黑的。”小小熊说。

! U+ V3 p: _; O& p$ `Big bear thought about it,
and then he went to the Lantern Cupboard
+ u% ^1 a) R  V, E5 A% ~4 R1 jand took out the Biggest Lantern of Them All,
with two handles and a bit of chain.
He hooked the lantern up above Little Bears bed.
"I've brought you the Biggest Lantern of Them all! "
he told Little bear.
: t: \3 w( S+ U$ X. p) L"That's to stop you being scared!"
“Thank you, Big Bear,” said Little Bear,
- B+ P8 T9 ]9 j2 b+ q; _5 a1 \2 D& wcurling up in the glow and watching
) N+ J% a8 C$ y/ k4 `; Vthe shadows dance.
“Now go to sleep, Little Bear, ”said Big Bear
and he padded back to the Bear Chair and
* Y! m! I/ v$ W0 isettled down to read the Bear Book，
by the light of the fire.

大大熊想了想，然后他又拿了一个最大的灯。
“我给你拿了最大的灯了，这下不用害怕了。”
3 W, }/ T1 h( ~/ W“谢谢你，大大熊。”小小熊开心地看着影子跳舞。

Little bear tried and tried and tried to go to sleep,
but he could't.

and padding over to the bed.

小小熊滚来滚去还是睡不着。
”你还是睡不着吗？“大大熊放下书，朝着床的方向走去。

"I'm scared," said Little bear.

"I don' t like the dark," said Little bear.

( Y- a; A9 Q7 z3 G1 T, L"The dark all around us, " said Little bear.
"But I brought you the Biggest Lantern of Them All,
* c& o5 d, a" @0 l1 land there isn't any dark left, " said Big Bear.
9 c' y9 {. w' G# ^" x"Yes, there is! "said Little Bear. There is, out there!"
And he pointed out of the Bear Cave, at the night.

“我害怕，”小小熊说。

大大熊觉得小小熊是对的，

”我们要去哪里？“小小熊说。

”是的。“
”但是我害怕。“

DARK!
"Ooooh! I'm scared," said Little Bear,
cuddling up to Big Bear.
Big Bear lifted Little Bear, and
& z0 G0 F* C' N; o: Pcuddled him, and said, "Look at the dark,
Little Bear. "And Little Bear looked.
外面真黑！
7 u' W" S9 ?& N* m5 \! p“啊，我害怕，”小小熊说。
大大熊抱起小小熊，对他说，“你看。”

"Ive brought you the moon, Little Bear, said Big Bear.

还有很多眨着眼睛的星星，这里再也不黑暗了。”

) s; x- M- W! `2 W/ z: L) V* aBut Little Bear didn't say anything, for he had gone
to sleep, warm and safe in Big Bear's arms.
Big Bear carried Little Bear back into the bear Cave,
fast asleep, and he settled down with Little Bear
on one arm and the Bear Book on the other, cosy
3 Z. R+ I6 V( }+ xin the Bear Chair by the fire.
小小熊没有吭声，他在大大熊温暖而安全的怀抱中睡着了。
8 c* a$ w' T: q& f/ W! ^3 \9 x大大熊抱着小小熊回到洞穴，
回到椅子上继续看书，一边还抱着小小熊。
