Munro先后毕业于美国马里兰大学和哈佛大学,哈佛英语文学硕士,毕业后在一所高中教书,后又到一家出版公司当编辑。他在不到1小时的时间里,写作了这个故事,并送给自己的好友Robert Lawson。后者也是一位著名的儿童作家与插图画家。两人合作完成了这一经典童书。本故事出版后,于1938年被迪士斯改编成电影并获奖。

All the other bulls ran around snorting and butting, leaping and jumping so the men would think that they were very very strong and fierce and pick them.
" r$ m: D0 ?. B4 ]3 U$ G! vFerdinand knew that they wouldn't pick him and he didn't care.
