兰登《STEP into READING》第3级 Beans Baker's Best Shot 译文分享
The game was almost over.
The score was tied with just seconds to play.
The winner would go to the championship.
Beans passed the ball to his best friend, Chester, then raced toward the goal.
Chester passed it back.
Beans kicked with all his might!
GOAL!
比赛就要结束了
双方仍是平分，成败就看最后这几秒 Beans和Chester一直在想着冠军争夺赛
他们在秘密树屋里制定了许多计划
“要是我们赢了，就把奖杯放在这儿，”Chester说
“好主意，”Beans说道
It was the day before the big game.
Coach Munhall told Beans and Chester they would be in the starting lineup.
“Way to go, Chester!” shouted Beans.
“Way to go, Beans!” shouted Chester.
很快到了比赛的前一天
Munhall教练把Beans和Chester安排在首发阵容
“加油，Chester！”Beans喊道
“加油，Beans！”Chester喊道
Out on the practice field, Beans raced for the ball. Chester raced, too.
They both kicked at the same time.
Crunch!
“Oops!” said Chester. “OUCH!”cried Beans.
“I’m sorry,” said Chester. “Ugh, I’m okay.” Groaned Beans.
“We better have it x-rayed,”said Bean’s father.
在训练场上，Beans追着球，Chester也追着球
他俩同时踢向球
咔擦！
“哦！”Chester说，“哎哟！”Beans叫道
“对不起，”Chester说道，“呃，我没事，”Beans呻吟道
“我们最好去照一下X光，”Beans的爸爸说
At the hospital, Beans and his father met with Dr. Walt.
“You’ll be as good as new after the cast comes off,” said Dr. Walt.
“Cast?” cried Beans.
“Your foot has a fracture,”explained Dr. Walt. “The cast will help it to heal.”
“But I will miss the championship game!” cried Beans.
医院里，Beans和爸爸见到了Walt医生
“摘下石膏后，你又可以活蹦乱跳了，”Walt医生说
“石膏？”Beans叫道
“你的脚骨折了，”Walt医生说，“石膏能让它痊愈的快一些。”
“那我会错过冠军争夺赛的！”Beans叫道
Beans’ friends were sad to see him on crutches the next morning.
They tried to cheer him up.
Chester was too nervous to talk to Beans.
He hid as his best friend hobbled past him.
第二天早上，Beans拄着拐杖去上学，朋友们见到了，十分惋惜
他们想让Beans高兴起来
而Chester根本不敢和Beans讲话
Beans一瘸一拐走过的时候，他藏了起来
“Everyone has to sign Beans’ cast,” shouted Lindsay. “It will be our good luck charm today!”
“Unless Chester signs it,” whispered Sheldon. “Then it will be our bad luck charm.”
“每个人都要在Beans的石膏上签字，”Lindsay喊道，“我们今天都会有好运气！”
“要是Chester也签了字，”Sheldon窃窃私语，“那我们就要迎来坏运气喽！”
“Thanks to you, Beans can’t play,” said Sheldon.
“It was an accident!” said Chester. “I would never hurt Beans. We are best friends.”
“You mean, you were best friends,” said Sheldon.
Chester felt terrible. He couldn’t sign Beans’ cast now!
“都是你，害得Beans不能上场，”Sheldon说
“那是个意外！”Chester说道，“我永远不会伤害Beans的，我们是最好的朋友。”
“你是说，你们曾经是最好的朋友，”Sheldon说
Chester难过极了，现在他不能再Beans的石膏上签字了！
After school, the team headed to the soccer field.
“Are we ready, Wildcats?” asked Coach Munhall.
“ROAR!” went the team.
Nobody noticed Chester sneaking the other way.
放学后，足球队一同前往足球场
“我们准备好了吗，野猫队?”Munhall问道
“准备好了！”球队大喊道
没人注意到Chester悄悄从另一个方向溜走了
The fans were arriving. The other team was on the field.
Soon the big game would start.
“Chester has to sign my cast before the game,” said Beans.
Everyone looked around. But there was no Chester.
球队粉丝们陆续到场了，另一个球队也到达了球场
很快激动人心的比赛就要开始了
“Chester上场前也要在我的石膏上签字。”Beans说
大家环顾四周，却找不到Chester
“Chester knows the game is starting,” said Molly Mall.
“Where is he?”
“I think his feelings are hurt,” said Russell.
“We have to find him!” said Lindsay. “Without him, we’re doomed!”
“Chester知道比赛就要开始了。”MollyMall说
“他去哪儿了？”
“我觉得他应该是伤心了。”Russell说道
“我们得找到他！”Lindsay说，“没有他，我们输定了！”
“Too bad Chester doesn’t have a cast we could sign,” said Sheldon.
“Why don’t we sign a soccer ball for him?” asked Coach Munhall. “That would cheer him up.”
“Perfect!” said Beans.
“真可惜Chester没有石膏让我们签字，”Sheldon说
“我们签一个足球送给他怎么样？”Munhall教练问道，“这也许能让他高兴起来。”
“完美！”Beans说
Everyone wrote a message to Chester on the soccer ball.
“How are we going to give this to Chester?” asked Molly Mall.
“We don’t know where he is.”
“Leave that to me,” said Beans.
每个人都在足球上给Chester写了一段话
“我们怎么把足球给Chester呢？”MollyMall问
“我们不知道他在哪儿呀。”
“交给我吧。”Beans说
The referee blew his whistle.
The game was about to start!
“Hurry!” said Russell.
“Good luck, Beans,” said Molly Mall.
“We’re counting on you,” said Lindsay.
“I’ll give it my best shot!” said Beans.
裁判吹响了哨
比赛马上就开始了！
“快！”Russell说
“祝你好运，Beans，”Molly Mall说
“我们就指望着你了。”Lindsay说道
“我会尽我所能！”Beans说
Beans knew right where to look---the secret tree house!
“Special delivery for Chester!” he shouted.
Then Beans took careful aim and kicked.
WHOMP! The ball flew right into the tree house.
Beans知道该去哪里找—秘密树屋！
“给Chester的特别包裹！”他喊道
接着Beans仔细地瞄准，射门
砰！足球不偏不倚飞入了树屋
“Wow!” said Chester.
He read every message and smiled.
“So you’re not mad?” asked Chester.
Beans shook his head. “But I will be if you won’t sign my cast,” he said.
“哇！”Chester说
他读了每个人写的话，笑了
“所以你没有生我的气？”Chester问道
Beans摇了摇头，“但你要是还不在我的石膏上签字，我可要生气了哦！”他说
Chester scurried down and signed Beans’ cast.
“Best friends?” asked Chester.
“Best friends,” said Beans.
“Now come on, there’s a championship game to win!”
Chester急忙跑下来，在Beans的石膏上签了字
“还是好朋友？”Chester问
“当然是好朋友，”Beans说
“现在得抓紧啦，我们还要去赢冠军呢！”
Back at the soccer field, things were not going well for the Wildcats.
They were behind by two goals.
But when they saw Beans with Chester, everyone began to cheer.
“Are you ready to play, Chester?” asked Coach Munhall.
“I’ll give it my best shot!” said Chester.
“Good work, Beans!” the coach said.
足球场上的局势对野猫队十分不利
他们已经落后两球了
但这时他们看见Beans同Chester一起回来了，大家都欢呼起来
“准备好上场了吗，Chester？”Munhall教练问道
“我会尽我所能！”Chester说
“干得好，Beans！”教练说道
The whole team began to play better with Chester on the field.
Sheldon scored. Then Russell scored.
The game was tied!
It looks like our luck is changing!” shouted Beans.
Chester上场后，整个队伍士气大涨
Sheldon进球了，紧接着Russell进球了
比分被追平了！
“看来我们的运气要变好了！”Beans喊道
With just seconds to play,
Chester passed the ball to Molly Mall, then raced toward the goal.
Molly Mall passed it back. Chester kicked with all his might!
GOAL!
The Wildcats had won the championship!
比赛到了最后时刻
Chester把球传给MollyMall，同时奔向球门
Molly Mall把球传了回来，Chester用尽全力射门！
球进啦！
野猫队赢得了冠军！
Everyone ran onto the field.
They jumped up and down. They gave each other high fives!
Chester was lifted onto his teammates’ shoulders.
After Coach Munhall handed out the trophies, it was time for the team picture.
“Great shot, Chester!” said Beans. “Your best shot ever!”
“Thanks,” said Chester.
大家高兴地奔入球场，他们又蹦又跳，互相击掌
队友们把Chester举了起来
Munhall教练分发了奖杯，接下来该拍集体照了
“好一个射门，Chester！”Beans说道，“简直是你最棒的一次射门！”
“谢谢,”Chester说
“And this is our best shot ever!” said Beans.
“这是我们最棒的一张集体照了！“Beans说
